放弃学英语的原因对于不同的人来说多种多样，有人觉得学习英语没用，因为用不着；有人不喜欢英语老师，所以讨厌英语；有人觉得语法这么多规则谁记得住呀，所以放弃学英语。

还有很多人放弃学英语的原因是英语词汇，对于很多英语学习者来说，这简直就是一个反复的噩梦。记了又忘，忘了又记，在一段时间的反反复复之后，完全放弃学英语。

学习英语是一件让很多人都感到痛苦的事情，因为很多人只是为了应付考试。就算当初花了很多时间在英语上，但是之后不用也会忘记之前学过的大部分，这简直就是浪费时间和生命。英语的重要性不言而喻，很多人死在英语这道坎上其实就是因为极大的功利性，把所有的方法都建立在了高效和快速上，凡是看到了这种快速，高效，30天看美剧不用字幕这一类字眼的广告就开始不淡定了，以为有什么一夜之间就可以出口成章的状态。

其实学习英语并不只是词汇，发音，语法，更重要的是一种文化的学习，思维的学习。如果能够激发学习者的兴趣就是非常好的方式，如果你喜欢历史、地理、文化、文学等等，那你可以将自己的兴趣点与英语相结合起来，达到一个英语+的状态。

英语初学者容易把Tuesday和Thursday两个单词中记混淆，Wednesday的拼写一直是个问题。每一个单词背后都有一个宝藏。星期不同的名字最初起源于古巴比伦，经过繁荣的古希腊和古罗马的传播后到达了最后的不列颠。星期在每一个时期都有不同的名字，但每个时期的西方人都将自己崇拜的神的名字取为星期当中不同的天数。所以，神在西方文化中是非常重要的一个组成部分。

Monday is the day of the week between Sunday and Tuesday. According to the international standard ISO 8601 it is the first day of the week. The name of Monday is derived from Old English Mōnandæg and Middle English Monenday,originally a translation of Latin dies lunae “day of the Moon”.

这一天是为了纪念“月亮女神”而命名的。

大家对于Monday最有印象的应该是-Cyber Monday。网购星期一是美国感恩节之后的那个星期一，在这一天各大线上购物平台都会有很大的促销折扣。但是跟我们的雄伟壮观的Double 11比起来还是差那么一些，不知道各位在双十一有没有剁手？

Tuesday-Day of the Mars

Tuesday is a day of the week occurring after Monday and before Wednesday. The English name is derived from Old English Tiwesdæg and Middle English Tewesday, meaning”Tīw’s Day”, the day of Tiw or Týr, the god of single combat, victory and heroic glory in Norse mythology. and the name of the day is a translation of Latin dies Martis.

这一天是为了纪念战神Tyr而由他的名字命名的。

星期二当中比较出名的就是超级星期二-Super Tuesday。因为美国总统选举可分为预选和大选两个阶段，在开始预选的时候，会有多个州集中在星期二这一天进行选举投票，其结果对最终党内提名会产生非常大的影响。去年的希拉里大战川普的战争以川普的胜利为最后结果，这场大决战真的引起了不小的震动，兄弟反目，父子成仇，搞的家庭都不和谐了。

Wednesday is the day of the week following Tuesday and before Thursday.The name is derived from Old English Wōdnesdæg and Middle English Wednesdei,”day of Woden”, reflecting the pre-Christian religion practiced by the Anglo-Saxons.

Woden是北欧诸神之父。

Thursday-Day of Jupiter

Thursday is the day of the week following Wednesday and before Friday. It is often abbreviated to Th or Thu.

这一天是用北欧神话中Thor的名字来命名的。Thor是掌管雷电之神。

Friday-Day of Venus

The name Friday comes from the Old English Frīġedæġ, meaning the “day of Frige”, a result of an old convention associating the Old English goddess Frigg with the Roman goddess Venus, with whom the day is associated in many different cultures.

在古英文中意思是Frigg’s day。Frigg是北欧神话中主司婚姻和生育的女神,也是Woden的妻子。

周五中比较著名的就是Black Friday。Black Friday is the nickname of the day after Thanksgiving, the first day of the traditional Christmas shopping season.这一天，很多线下的商店都会疯狂的折扣，但是你一定要早到。所以部分人提前几天就排好队了，就是为了等待那超级便宜的货物！这个情况可比超市大妈们厉害多了。

Saturday is the day of the week following Friday and preceding Sunday. The Romans named Saturday Sāturni diēs (“Saturn’s Day”) no later than the 2nd century for the planet Saturn, which controlled the first hour of that day。

Saturn是罗马神话中的农神,掌管五谷。

周六对很多人来说就是一个休息的日子，晚起、躺尸、看电视剧、购物、与朋友相聚等等。但是在美国有一档在周六晚上播出的节目-周六夜现场Saturday Night Live

。是美国电视史上最长寿的节目之一。节目由一系列讽刺恶搞当下政治和文化的喜剧小品组成，每周都有不同的客座主持人与音乐来宾加入。包括去年竞选美国总统的希拉里和川普都去过！

Sunday-Day of the Sun

Sunday is the day of the week after Saturday but before Monday. Sunday is a day of rest in most Western countries, as a part of the weekend. For most Christians,Sunday is observed as a day of worship and rest, holding it as the Lord’s Day and the day of Christ’s resurrection.

对基督徒而言,星期日是“安息日”,因为耶稣复活的日子是在星期日。

Super Bowl Sunday-超级碗

The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League(NFL), the highest level of professional American football in the world.The day on which the Super Bowl is played, now considered by some as an unofficial American national holiday, It is called “Super Bowl Sunday”.

这种凶残的比赛，看起来也是怕怕的。但是在美国是非常火爆的体育赛事，每年超级碗的中场秀吸引眼球的一个环节，大牌明星做客。High爆全场。
